Business Analyst – Legal Case Management Software
6 Month Contract
Rate: £600 - £650 per day (Inside IR35)
Location: UK – Remote (Occasional travel to customer sites may be required)

Skills: Legal or Case Management Software, Customer Discovery, Requirements Gathering, User Journey, Agile Delivery

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to support the ongoing development of a legal case management software product.

This is a highly customer-focused role. You will build relationships with a large and varied user community, speaking directly with legal professionals and operational users to understand how they use the product, identify their challenges and capture clear business requirements.

You will act as the link between customers, product management and engineering. Your responsibility will be to investigate problems, conduct research and translate customer needs into well-defined requirements that can be considered within the product roadmap.

You will not own the product roadmap, but your research and analysis will play an important role in shaping future product improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with approximately 105 users of the legal case management product.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for users, creating an open and constructive environment for feedback.
  • Conduct interviews, workshops and fact-finding sessions to understand how customers use the product.
  • Investigate user challenges and identify the underlying business problem rather than simply recording requested solutions.
  • Understand legal workflows, terminology and operational processes.
  • Gather, analyse and document clear business and user requirements.
  • Map existing user journeys and business processes, identifying pain points and opportunities for improvement.
  • Translate complex customer feedback into structured requirements for product and engineering teams.
  • Present findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Product Managers, developers and other internal teams to support roadmap and delivery decisions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure requirements remain traceable throughout the development process.
  • Support prioritisation discussions by providing clear evidence, customer insight and business context.
  • Champion the needs of legal users throughout the product development lifecycle.

Essential Experience

  • Strong Business Analysis experience within a software, technology or product-led environment.
  • Proven experience gathering and documenting business and user requirements.
  • Experience conducting customer interviews, workshops and discovery sessions.
  • Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to investigate ambiguous problems and establish the real underlying requirement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High levels of empathy, curiosity and active listening.
  • Experience working with Product Managers and software engineering teams.
  • Strong process mapping and user journey mapping skills.
  • Ability to translate complex operational needs into clear, actionable requirements.
  • Experience working within Agile software development environments.
  • Confidence working with a broad user community and managing competing viewpoints.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with legal software or case management systems.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, legal workflows or legal operations.
  • Experience working with case management platforms.
  • Experience within legal technology, local government, regulatory or public-sector software.
  • Familiarity with complaints, investigations, Freedom of Information, subject access requests or other regulated casework processes.
