Senior Product Manager
6 Month Contract
Location: Home based
Rate: £700 - £750 per day (Inside IR35)

The Opportunity

We are looking to recruit a Senior Product Manager for a leading technology consultancy operating in the public sector technology space who require an experienced Senior Product Manager to lead strategy and execution across a portfolio of mission-critical digital products.

This role will play a key part in shaping solutions that support local government and public services, with an initial focus on finance systems, helping organisations deliver better outcomes for citizens through modern, cloud-based technology.

You will define product vision and roadmaps, lead and mentor Product Managers, and work closely with engineering, design, research, and commercial teams to deliver high-impact, scalable products.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the strategic product vision and roadmap aligned to wider organisational goals
  • Lead, mentor, and line-manage a team of Product Managers, supporting performance, growth, and capability development
  • Develop deep insight into customer needs, market trends, and business objectives through research, data, and stakeholder engagement
  • Drive hands-on product execution, from discovery through to delivery and launch
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, user research, marketing, commercial, and customer success teams
  • Oversee the full product lifecycle across a portfolio of SaaS products
  • Plan and deliver successful product launches, including positioning and messaging
  • Use data and metrics to evaluate product performance and inform continuous improvement
  • Champion strong documentation, knowledge sharing, and best-practice product management processes
  • Support geographically distributed teams and stakeholders

 

Skills & Experience Required

  • Significant experience in Product Management, with at least 10 years overall and 3+ years in a senior/lead role
  • Local government systems experience (essential)
  • SaaS / cloud-based product experience (essential)
  • Strong background leading multiple products within product-led or SaaS organisations
  • Proven experience defining and executing product strategies that drive business growth
  • Experience mentoring and managing high-performing product teams
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including executive-level engagement
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven product decisions
  • Confident prioritising competing demands based on customer value, business impact, and technical feasibility
  • Experience working closely with engineering and design teams in agile environments

 

Desirable Experience

  • Exposure to AI-enabled products or platforms
  • Experience with finance systems within the public sector
  • Familiarity with UX, human-centred design, and user research methodologies
  • Experience launching and scaling multiple products
  • Background working across distributed or international teams
