Job title:	Solution Architect
Location:	Home Based (with travel to customer sites as required)
Department:	Central Government

Role purpose:	As a member of the Central Government architecture capability, you design and deliver best-in-class solutions that meet the business and technical needs of our clients, ensuring technical and architectural integrity, and delivering to time, cost and quality criteria. The role of the Solution Architect is to ensure that the critical services delivered to our clients are designed and delivered to the highest quality standards, leveraging expertise, experience and best practices in solution design and delivery across the full project lifecycle.
Principal responsibilities and tasks:	Work independently or as part of a team to translate business needs into the design of solution architectures for external clients, and internal delivery teams. Lead the solution definition and delivery for a wide range of projects and programmes. The design and communication of high-level artefacts to guide the design and development of integrated solutions that meet customer requirements. Participates in and can lead meetings with stakeholders. Provide advice, leadership and mentoring for technical teams, defining standards and practices for solution design and delivery. Ensures adherence to applicable standards (corporate, industry, national and international). Work as part of a team to develop the overall solution architecture for a range of industry focused sales propositions. Participate in business development providing technical input and meeting with clients to secure new business. Act as pre-sales solution architect for bids and proposals, assisting with estimation and planning. Work as part of a team to design and support development of proof of concepts and deliver client demonstrations. Support identification of training needs across internal delivery teams. Identification of new and emerging software, technologies, products, services, methods and techniques and the assessment of their relevance and potential value for solutions, improvements in cost/performance or sustainability. Promotion of emerging technology awareness among staff and business management. Collaborate with colleagues across other disciplines to ensure consideration of architecture at all stages of the delivery lifecycle
Essential competencies:	Personal attributes: Degree level education, or equivalent. Ability to articulate and present different points-of-views on various technologies and architecture patterns. Highly customer focused, able to quickly build trust and develop customer intimacy. Solution-oriented with the imagination to identify innovative approaches to critical problems. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to guide, direct, motivate and support staff either directly or indirectly. Effective time management and an ability to recognise and respond to changing priorities and requirements. Good organisation skills. Self-starting and self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude. Technologies, Methodologies and Frameworks: Experience of Secure Software Development Lifecycle processes and methodologies. Strong understanding and practical experience of working with teams to deliver complex software solutions. Knowledge and experience of designing and delivering solutions based on the PaaS, SaaS and IaaS capabilities of public cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services. Knowledge and experience of Web Application design and delivery. Knowledge and experience of container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Knowledge and experience of integration patterns and associated standards and technologies Knowledge and experience of Agile development, tools, and methods Knowledge and experience of applying best practice for solution security. E.g., OWASP, NCSC cloud security principles. Knowledge and experience of applying best practice for handling personal data. E.g., GDPR. Knowledge and experience of Microservices, Webservices and associated technologies and frameworks including Rest, SOAP, JSON. Knowledge and experience of Single Sign on and Authentication/Authorisation technologies such as SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, Active Directory, ADFS and LDAP Knowledge and experience of DevOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment tools and practices.
Desirable Skills:	Skills & Qualifications Industry recognised Technical Qualifications. E.g., Microsoft certifications, Amazon certifications and similar. TOGAF certification. Technologies, Methodologies and Frameworks Experience of development of, and integration with, mobile applications including iOS and Android. Experience of development of solutions based on the PaaS, SaaS, and IaaS capabilities of Google Cloud. Knowledge and experience of data architecture and associated patterns and technologies. Experience of delivering real time data integration e.g., streaming (IoT) and APIs.

Requirements

Our Democracy & Governance department are looking for an ambitious and capable account executive to work with Civica Election Services (CES) new business sales, local authority and sales development teams, in supporting sales and account management activity, including campaign support.

Deliver effective account management strategy to achieve local authority sector and business unit sales targets
Plan, prioritise and manage activity and customer contact to upsell products eg Civica Polling Station (digital), electoral print services
Work with the Sales Director, Director of Local Authorities, Managing Director and other internal stakeholders including Marketing to develop and roll out regular, targeted, market driven campaigns
Develop an understanding of CES’ local authority sector products and services to be able to carry out solution-based sales conversations remotely via video/phone call and in person
