Assistant Management Accountant – Revenue & Commissions
6 Month Contract
Location: UK – Remote
Day Rate: £300 – £350 per day (INSIDE IR35)

We are recruiting for an experienced Assistant Management Accountant to join the central finance team of an established technology and professional services organisation.

The role will support the financial management of a business division delivering complex technology, consultancy and managed services contracts to a range of customers.

Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will support month-end accounting, revenue recognition, cost analysis and financial reporting, alongside taking ownership of sales commission calculations.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong accounting knowledge, advanced Excel skills and the confidence to work with stakeholders across Finance, Sales and Project Delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Assist with monthly revenue and cost accounting, investigating variances against budgets and forecasts.
  • Support revenue recognition and invoicing processes across complex technology and services contracts.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to ensure accurate financial information and project-related reporting.
  • Take ownership of monthly sales commission calculations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with agreed commission structures.
  • Act as the key point of contact for commission-related queries, investigating discrepancies and confidently challenging stakeholders where necessary.
  • Prepare journals, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations and cost allocations.
  • Support monthly forecasting activities and the preparation of financial information.
  • Analyse financial data from multiple sources, identifying discrepancies and supporting continuous improvements to financial processes.
  • Maintain strong financial controls and ensure accuracy across financial reporting activities.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience in an Assistant Management Accountant, Management Accounting Assistant or similar hands-on finance role.
  • Strong understanding of month-end accounting processes, including journals, accruals, reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Experience supporting revenue recognition, cost accounting and financial reporting.
  • Experience calculating sales commissions or managing complex financial calculations would be highly advantageous.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to manipulate and analyse large datasets, including pivot tables, lookups and complex formulas.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Confident communicator, comfortable working with stakeholders across Finance, Sales and operational teams.
  • Able to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet tight reporting deadlines.

Experience within professional services, IT consultancy, technology outsourcing or managed services environments would be particularly advantageous, especially where revenue is generated through complex customer contracts.

Candidates may be part-qualified ACCA/CIMA or qualified by experience. Above all, we are looking for someone with strong practical accounting experience who is comfortable taking a hands-on approach to the role.
