The Opportunity

Working within a specialist infrastructure function, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing hybrid server and cloud platforms, ensuring high levels of service availability, security and performance.

You will provide third-line technical expertise across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, server and storage technologies, while supporting infrastructure design, cloud adoption initiatives and technology improvement programmes.

The role requires close collaboration with security, networking and information management teams to ensure infrastructure services meet both operational and security requirements.

This role is predominantly remote, with travel to Lincolnshire expected a couple of times per month for team collaboration, project activity and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide third-line support for infrastructure incidents, problems and service requests.

  • Design, implement and maintain hybrid server and cloud infrastructure solutions.

  • Support and administer Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.

  • Manage and maintain server, storage and virtualisation platforms.

  • Ensure systems are proactively monitored and maintained to maximise service availability.

  • Implement security controls, patch management and remediation activities.

  • Support infrastructure projects and wider technology improvement initiatives.

  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, standards and operational procedures.

  • Work closely with security, networking and operational teams to deliver resilient infrastructure services.

  • Participate in an out-of-hours support rota when required.

Essential Experience

Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience in several of the following areas:

  • Microsoft Azure infrastructure and cloud services.

  • Microsoft 365 administration and support.

  • Hybrid cloud and on-premise infrastructure environments.

  • Server administration and enterprise infrastructure support.

  • Virtualisation technologies including VMware and VxRail.

  • Microsoft Server technologies, storage and related infrastructure services.

  • Third-line infrastructure support within a complex technical environment.

  • Infrastructure monitoring, performance management and service availability.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working within a secure public sector, policing or government environment.

  • Knowledge of ITIL service management principles.

  • Active Directory administration, including Group Policy and identity management.

  • Understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, LAN and WAN technologies.

  • Experience supporting cyber security remediation and compliance activities.

  • Relevant Microsoft or infrastructure certifications.
