Head of Governance & Compliance

12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Salary: £63000-67000

Location: Hybrid/Gloucesterhire (2–3 days per week on site in Gloucestershire)

A leading Public Sector organisation is seeking a senior leader to take on the role of Head of Governance & Compliance. This strategic role provides organisation-wide oversight of governance, risk, information management, compliance and business continuity. Reporting directly to the Deputy Chief Officer, you will help shape corporate governance and support effective decision-making across the organisation.

The Role

You will:

• Lead internal control and governance processes, including the organisation’s risk management framework.
• Oversee audit and compliance activity.
• Provide senior oversight of information governance, information security and data protection frameworks.
• Maintain key governance documentation, including policies, risk registers and business continuity plans.
• Lead the organisation’s Business Continuity arrangements.
• Advise senior leaders on organisational risk and compliance matters.
• Manage relationships with national regulatory, audit and inspection bodies.
• Oversee internal audit planning with the CFO.
• Lead insurance arrangements.
• Chair governance and risk boards and act as Deputy SIRO.
• Manage a multi-disciplinary department of around 40 staff.
