Skills: Content Design, UX Writing, User-Centred Design, Accessibility, GDS / GOV.UK Standards

We are looking to recruit an SC Cleared Content Designer for a leading technology consultancy delivering user-centred services across the UK public sector.

This role would suit someone who cares as much about solving user problems as they do about writing great content. You’ll work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, helping public sector clients create services that are clear, accessible and genuinely easy for people to use.

Working across the full service lifecycle, you’ll use research and evidence to understand user needs, develop content strategies, create and test content, improve information architecture and continually refine services based on user feedback.

What you’ll be doing

  • Designing clear, concise and accessible content around identified user needs
  • Working closely with User Researchers, Service Designers, Interaction Designers and other specialists
  • Creating and maintaining content across different stages of the service lifecycle
  • Testing content with users and using research findings to improve designs
  • Contributing to content strategy, information architecture and service design decisions
  • Ensuring accessibility and inclusive design principles are embedded throughout the service
  • Helping clients understand the role content plays within the wider user experience
  • Working across a variety of public sector digital transformation programmes

What we’re looking for

  • Strong professional experience within Content Design
  • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to simplify complex information
  • Good understanding of accessibility and inclusive design
  • Experience designing content based on user needs and research
  • Confidence participating in or supporting user research and content testing
  • Understanding of content strategy and information architecture
  • Awareness of wider user-centred and experience design practices
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary Agile delivery teams
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills

Highly desirable

  • Previous experience delivering digital services within UK Government or the wider public sector
  • Familiarity with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and ways of working
  • Experience using the GOV.UK style guide and design principles
  • Understanding of the Government Service Standard and assessment process
  • Experience working within consultancy or client-facing environments
