Lead Vetting Controller

Overview 

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Vetting Lead to help us build a best in class vetting capability. This role is pivotal to ensure we maintain the highest standards of security, compliance, and onboarding excellence across the UK, with a distinct focus on government and police vetting aligned with UKSV policies and IPSA accreditation standards.  

Key Responsibilities 

Vetting & Screening Leadership 

• You’ll be an expert within our organisation, able to lead the way on vetting best practice and demonstrate to colleagues at all levels the importance and value of an exemplar vetting service.  

• Oversee the compliance, management and maintenance of all national security clearances held by Civica colleagues, including BPSS, CTC, SC, DV, and police vetting (NPPV2/3). 

• Lead Civica’s IPSA accreditation process to obtain UKSV sponsor status within 12 months. 
• Develop training materials to educate clearance holders to ensure a comprehensive understanding of their responsibilities and best practices in behavior. 

• Implement a new record keeping system to enhance efficiency and data integrity, in keeping with UKSV and GDPR guidelines. 

• Design and implement internal policies that foster a strong culture of security and compliance. 
• Regularly roll out training for policy/ process change, using the most effective engagement channels.   

Operational Oversight 

• Own and implement vetting processes across the full employee lifecycle– from onboarding to maintenance and aftercare. 

• Ensure all vetting processes are executed to a consistently high standard. 

• Make final decisions on flagged screening results, helping to navigate any appeals or gather supplementary evidence where required.  

• Audit new customer contracts and projects to determine appropriate vetting requirements, including reviewing SALs. 

• Reporting and tracking of costs involved in managing clearances  

• Lead vetting responses for internal/ external audits  

• Line manage the Vetting Specialist, providing guidance and support. 

Stakeholder Engagement 

• Provide expert advice to line managers and department heads on vetting processes and policy interpretation. 

• Keep senior leaders informed to support timely project assignments and resource planning. 

• Act as the senior liaison for external customers, ensuring Civica adheres to their specific vetting processes. 

• Escalation point for our Vetting Specialist, handling complex applicant queries and ensuring vetting requests are valid and justified.  

External Representation & Compliance 

• Represent the company on national vetting working groups and maintain current knowledge through appropriate platforms.  

• Ensure all clearance data is securely managed and sensitive government information is handled in accordance with national security protocols. 

Qualifications & Experience 

• Extensive experience in UK security vetting and screening operations. 

• Deep understanding of National Security Vetting (BPSS, CTC, SC, DV) and Police Vetting (NPPV2/3). 

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. 

• A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to navigate challenges and identify effective solutions. 

• Ability to work unsupervised and have a proactive approach and decisive. 

TSG Team

"We have a vacancy for a Consultant System Tester (job description attached) within our TSG team. Daily rate range is £300 - £350, depending on skills and competencies. This will be initially for the period 01.11.25 – 30.05.26.  We could also look at a fixed-term contract, salary range £42,000 to £48,000 per annum."

2 Systems tester in the team and this role will cover one of those going on maternity leave in November 2025.

Role Purpose: Maternity cover.

Location: 2 days in the office Wednesday and Thursday.  First week from home and then 2nd week hybrid.

Syed would prefer FTC.  The contract rate of £300 - 350 would be including of a=margin - so FTC seems the way forward.

Essential skills:

FTC preferable 

person profile:

4/5 years 

Manual mainly - some automation.  80% manual, 20 Load and stress testing. 

Any automation tool - Java script. 

Self drivem, just a small team of testers - so need to be able to work independantly.  Strong communication.  Liaison with UK and India teams, liaison with Developers. 

Want to see expereince of testing of interactive web sites.

SQL essential - may nee do create their own tables.  

Good SQL skills - Intermediate level - able to select the data and creat the data. 

Submission process/ timeline:

Start 01 November, Interviews in September. 

2 stage process.

1st stage Teams with Syed

nd stge F2F for 1 hour and onsite and with the other Tester. 

Tech test will be testing and SQL related. 

Launch the process, start interviewing in September. 

FTC

Objectives of Role:

To gather requirements, generate test scripts and test plans, and integrate with software components. Projects can vary from ensuring individual components meet requirements to ensuring overall compliance with project definitions, UAT and ISO processes.

The system tester will be required to work with development teams, business analysts, project managers and end users.

Responsibilities:

To include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Preparing test assets and test scripts from outline plan.
• Experience with Automation testing using Java/ JavaScript Node.js with Selenium.
• Experience using Webdriver.IO for Automation or similar.
• Experience with Cucumber BDD frameworks.
• Experience using Git and any CI tools.
• Coordinating and implementing testing to ensure products/changes are suitable for deployment.
• Executing the planned tests within agreed release cycles.
• Ensuring the delivery of high-quality test documentation throughout the test lifecycle.
• Work closely with the development and creative teams on resolutions.
• Providing feedback to the development teams.
• Creating new test strategies.
• Follow agreed standards and best practices.
• Follow recognized web standards for security and resilience.
• Experience in Performance testing and load testing with tools like JMeter.
• Experience with Azure DevOps project management.
• Experience of working with SQL Server data.
• A sound general understanding of RDBs.

Planning and analysis:

• Provide realistic estimates to produce test scripts and plans.
• Actively and positively contribute to meetings that help set the technical direction of the Technology department, i.e., standards, processes, strategic initiative, reusability of code.
• Maintain a satisfactory level of team cohesiveness and be a team player.

Leadership:

• Provide appropriate technical support to internal customers.
• Constructively contributes to design and code reviews with other team members.
