Location: Hereford/Home (3 days per week in Hereford office)
Salary: £60,000-65,000 plus excellent benefits

We are looking to recruit a Project Manager for a leading online retailer who will will lead the delivery of a variety of different projects aligned to their strategic roadmap. working with Agile and Waterfall working models, using both in house and 3rd party development teams.

The Role

• Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with the project sponsor and stakeholders 
• Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and milestones 
• Coordinate project resources 
• Lead cross-functional teams to execute projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives; manage change requests 
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies 
• Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget 
• Prepare and present progress reports, proposals, and status updates to stakeholders 
• Manage relationships with key stakeholders to ensure satisfaction 
• Coordinate with external vendors or contractors as needed 
• Conduct post-project evaluations and create recommendations for future improvements 
• Contribute to the Project Management Centre of Excellence as part of the PMO Methodology 
• Implement agreed best practices, tools, and methodologies to improve project outcomes

Key Skills & Experience:

• Project management certifications, ideally Waterfall and Agile
• Significant project management experience including IT and non IT projects
• Proven experience in managing complex projects with cross-functional teams
• Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
• Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, JIRA, G-Suite)
• Experience of working with third party suppliers and inhouse software development teams
• Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) experience highly desirable

Moving to a product led approach in terms of delivery –

Recently launched an app – not trialled before. Starting to deliver in this way

Big project to build a new website – old code, old platform – a lot of legacy. Start afresh

Create a product owner web role – vision and prioritisation to build new website.

Partnering with an agency who helped deliver app - Valtech

7 existing markets – UK and into Europe – trading as a European led business and scale

15% total outside – wants to grow this

Warehouse in Poland – have hub there to ship across

Developed the app and content stack for CMS, within the app we have web checkout and web my account

Driving development of the browser experience –

Pivotal to international expansion

Have kicked off first product team -

Rest of the business will follow suit – be product led

Mixed valtech and m&m team – create process and engagement in the wider business

More the process rather than the solution – ways of working and the practices

Work with jess to define the roadmap for development and how we do the work to launch the website

Timescale is ambitious – established in way of working – work with 3^rd party

May 2026 – launch in to new market

Ecommerce – doesn’t need to be retail – product ownership and agile ways of work

Multi disciplinary team as a product owner

Embedding skill in the business

6 months – collab team, in a sprint format delivery in velocity, already got in the app team, manage and intill the vision to work with stakeholders, understand prioritisation

Tough conversations on prioritisaiton and articulate them

Convert people in to new ways of working – in development space, and also the customer led teams, buying and merch functions – up to Directors with Jess’s support

CRM and ecommerce teams

3 days in Hereford

Infomal  business culture, committed employees – not a super alpha person. Team is committed and knowledgeable, pushing against an open door and work with existing teams

Up to £75k on salary

Project is kicking off now – be good to have someone in sooner – discovery for 4 weeks now

Did earmark head of ecommerce to take it, but they took redundancy

Might consider a 3 month notice period – but not ideal

Interview process – 30 min intro call for team fit, then an in person interview. Likely to include a presentation, and someone from Valtech
