Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated professional with a strong legal background to oversee and enhance our compliance program, specifically focusing on data protection and privacy laws. This role is crucial in ensuring our organization adheres to relevant regulations such as GDPR and CCPA, while promoting a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Protection Management: Oversee all data protection efforts, including the implementation and monitoring of policies and procedures related to GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations.
- Compliance Program Development: Develop and manage a comprehensive compliance program, with a particular emphasis on data protection and privacy compliance, ensuring alignment with applicable laws and industry standards.
- Risk Management Framework: Establish and maintain a risk management framework for data protection, including the identification, assessment, and mitigation of potential risks to personal data.
- Audits and Assessments: Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify data protection and compliance risks, providing actionable recommendations for mitigation.
- Regulatory Monitoring: Stay updated on legal and regulatory changes affecting data protection and privacy, ensuring prompt updates to organizational policies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments to ensure the effective implementation of compliance policies and training programs related to data protection.
- Compliance Investigations: Lead investigations into data protection breaches or compliance issues, ensuring thorough documentation, reporting, and resolution.
- Reporting: Prepare and deliver detailed compliance and data protection reports to the General Counsel and senior management, highlighting risks and recommending actions.
- Culture of Compliance: Promote and foster a culture of compliance and ethical behavior throughout the organization, providing legal guidance and support to employees.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Law (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience: Proven experience in compliance and data protection, particularly in a legal context.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of data protection laws and relevant legal frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly related to legal compliance issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders across the organization.
